A Grand Day Out - Peak Wildlife Park

We're members of English Heritage this year (switching our allegiance from the National Trust after many years) but today we fancied something different and Wow did Laura (my good lady) find something different... Peak Wildlife Park near Alton Towers in Staffordshire.

At half the price of the large commercial zoo's (it cost us just over £30 for a family of three) we got a far more personal experience. We walked amongst the Limas, Wallabies and Penguins whilst signs advised us not to touch any of the animals, there were no fences between us and them.

Getting so close to penguins was fantastic and watching the wallabies hop by made Ben (our lad) smile.

The larger animals are fenced off for obvious reasons (Zebras and Alpacas etc) but have generous enclosures and good camera view points with minimal fencing.

The Giant Rabbits were very friendly and could be petted, We obviously stopped for the obligatory coffee and ice creams and chatted to the friendly staff in the cafe.

So if you live in the Midlands, it's well worth a visit, check out their website HERE

Here's a few more photo's of our day...
